Freedom of the Press

A micro winery making top-quality English still wines. Once the grapes arrive, we do everything else. Our emphasis is on sourcing high-quality fruit, very gentle handling and pressing, maturation in a range of vessels, producing classic, balanced, elegant and highly enjoyable wines.

Our must-try is: Pinot Noir (red) 2022: Harvested at peak ripeness, this is a wine of unusual depth and colour for England, but still with the tell-take cool-climate pinot delicacy and fragrance. Notes of red cherry and wild strawberry, perhaps even some rose and violets; also a hint of black cherry or plumb, and a suggestion of a savoury note which will evolve as the wine ages.

Where and when to drink: Perhaps first a glass without food; then the rest of the bottle with a rack of lamb with light jus, pigeon and peas, or maybe a truffle-based pasta. Drink on a warm summer evening in a Cotswolds cottage (or pub) garden.

Tours and tastings: Frequent open days listed throughout the summer; also regular bookable 'taste and tour events', usually on a Saturday. If there's nothing listed that suits, get in touch and we'll fix something.
